DANGEROUS WEATHER TODAY THROUGH SUNDAY

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for New York City for today, tomorrow, and Sunday at 8:00 p.m.

The combination of high temperature and high humidity is dangerous to people's health. Saturday is predicted to be the hottest day.

Stay out of the sun. Avoid strenuous activity. Drink a lot of water.

The people who are at the most risk and may need your help are
  • older adults,
  • people who don't have air conditioning, and
  • people who have chronic health conditions.
But everyone is advised to be careful in order to avoid the serious illness that heat can cause.

Cooling centers will be open all three days. To find out where the cooling centers are located and the hours they are open, click here or call 311.
