A TALE OF TWO CATONS AND THE CONSTRUCTION SITES ON THEM

Caton Place and Caton Avenue Construction Projects Update
Wednesday, February 6th, 6:30 p.m.

The three sites that have, at one time or another, been under construction in the "Stable Brooklyn" section of Windsor Terrace are now all currently active: 22 Caton Place, 23 Caton Place, and 701-711 Caton Avenue. Until recently, construction on the first two sites had been stalled for years.

At this meeting of the Buildings & Construction Committee of Community Board 7, residents and other interested community members can hear the developers explain their plans for the projects and how they'll address concerns about the effect that ongoing construction will have on the area.

Councilmember Brad Lander and the Buildings & Construction Committee worked together to organize this meeting. Councilmember Lander has circulated the following agenda:
  • 22 Caton Place: Hudson Development Companies will attend, to discuss their plans to break ground in the spring on a 7-story, 73-unit apartment building at 22 Caton Place (between Ocean Parkway and East 8th Street).
  • New public school at Caton and East 7th Street: The School Construction Authority, which broke ground this fall on a new 757-seat school at the corner of Caton Place and East 7th Street, will be in attendance.  PS/IS 437 at 701-711 Caton Avenue
  • 23 Caton Place, where permits have been renewed to construct an 8-story, 107-unit building. Councilmember Brad Lander has asked the developer to attend, but he hasn't yet confirmed.

Meeting location:
International Baptist Church
