RECENT MURDER ON 18TH STREET WILL BE TALKED ABOUT TONIGHT

The murder of Jesse Morales will be discussed at tonight's meeting of Community Board 7, which begins at 6:30 p.m. Mr. Morales was the victim of a robbery and murder in front of 255 18th Street last Wednesday, January 9th, at about 7:10 p.m.

A few minutes after closing his 5th Avenue business for the night, Mr. Morales was accosted as he walked to his car to drive home to Merrick. He was walking from Ramirez Travel, his travel and insurance business, at 579 5th Avenue, near 16th Street, and had gotten as far as 255 18th Street, between 5th and 6th avenues.

The sixty-seven-year-old died from head injuries incurred when the robber pushed him to the ground and his head hit the pavement.

Three people who either saw the perpetrator or witnessed the crime itself described him as a six-foot tall black man dressed in black clothing. They had a difference of opinion on whether or not he was wearing a black mask.

To date, the 72nd Precinct has not made any arrests.
